
Apella Wealth Acquires $574M RIA Iron Horse Wealth Management
West Hartford, CT-based Apella Wealth has added a Johnston, Iowa-based registered investment advisor firm that oversees more than $574 million in assets under management.
Apella Wealth’s latest addition is Iron Horse Wealth Management, founded in 2012 and led by founder and President Dennis Markway. The firm provides financial and retirement planning, college planning, and investment management to families, professionals, retirees, and business owners.
The team also includes senior financial advisors Greg Hayes and Danny Beyer and associate advisors Mark Broderick and Penny Schmidt, according to Apella Wealth’s website.
“This partnership represents a significant milestone in Apella’s geographic expansion as we establish our first Midwest-based team,” Jim Scanlan, President of Apella, said. “We are excited to welcome a highly respected firm, known for its unwavering commitment to clients, to Apella.”
Iron Horse Wealth Management oversees $532 million in client assets across 1,431 accounts, according to its Form ADV updated in June.
The transaction closed on June 20, marking Apella’s 22nd transaction, and 11th since partnering with Wealth Partners Capital Group, which invested in Apella in September 2021.
In January, Apella Wealth acquired Davis, CA-based Young Wealth Management with $144 million in assets, and in March, the wealth firm acquired Wyomissing, PA-based Marrella Private Wealth with $518 million in assets.
Apella Wealth, founded in 2014, oversaw about $6.08 billion in client assets as of June 20, according to the firm.
