AI-Focused AIX Ventures Looks to Raise $150M Sophomore Fund

AIX Ventures, the artificial intelligence-focused investor launched by former Salesforce chief scientist Richard Socher in 2022, is looking to raise $150 million for its sophomore fund, according to a filing submitted to the US Securities and Exchange Commission.

The firm attracted big-name backers for its $50 million inaugural fund raise last year, including Bain Capital Ventures, Foundation Capital, Khosla Ventures and Lux Capital.

The firm targets investments in pre-seed and seed-stage AI startups, with a focus on consumer, developer tools and data, healthcare, life sciences, manufacturing, warehousing and software-as-a-service.

It looks to invest between $500,000 and $2 million, with extra capital reserves for potential follow-on investments in Series A and beyond.

Its portfolio investments to date include Exazyme, which is using AI for industrial protein engineering, Ware, which uses AI to fly inventory-taking warehouse drones, and Eliza Dolls, dolls aimed at teaching girls how to code.
