AEW Looks to Raise $2B for its 10th North American Opportunistic Real Estate Fund
AEW Capital Management, the real estate asset management platform of Natixis Investment Managers, is aiming to raise $2 billion for its 10th North American opportunistic real estate fund – AEW Partners Real Estate X -, according to recent public pension documents.
The raise would be the largest fund in the series for the Boston, MA-based firm. Its ninth fund closed at $1.2 billion.
AEW has received a $100 million commitment from the New Mexico State Investment Council and a $50 million pledge from the Public Employees’ Retirement System of Mississippi for the new fund.
The strategy for the new fund is largely in line with its previous funds; acquiring and developing assets across multiple property types, largely centered around multifamily in “near urban” markets and industrial properties in growth markets.
The fund is managed by senior portfolio manager Anthony Crooks, with support from Allison Corter, head of fund operations, and Jonathan Watson and Steven Sechko.
As one of the largest global real estate investment managers, AEW has over 800 clients with $91.6 billion in assets under management across all property types in North America, Europe and Asia Pacific.
