Sanctuary Hires Former Morgan Stanley Exec as East Coast MD

Sanctuary Wealth has added another former wirehouse executive to its leadership team. Chris Shaw, a former managing director at Morgan Stanley, adds over 30 years of expertise to his new position as east coast regional managing director.

He is filling the position left vacant by Paul Sullivan, who departed the firm earlier this year after less than two years.

Shaw, who will report directly to Sanctuary president Vince Fertitta, will be responsible for all aspects of recruiting “from Miami to Maine”, with the goal of attracting “top quintile financial advisors” seeking to go independent. Additionally, he will be responsible for ensuring that current Sanctuary partner firms along the east coast receive support and services.

During his 29 years at Morgan Stanley, Shaw served in several roles, most recently, leading the Southern New Jersey region, which comprised seven offices and 250 financial advisors.

In that position he was responsible for recruiting, coaching and mentoring new financial advisors. Previously, Shaw served in other management capacities, having started his career with the firm as a financial advisor.

“His balance of hard and soft skills, in-the-trenches experience as a former Morgan Stanley financial advisor and industry insights makes Chris the perfect addition to our team,” said Fertitta.

Sanctuary, which has been majority-owned by Azimut Group since 2021, had $25 billion in assets under advisement in July of last year.
