Brookfield Amasses $12B for Its Largest PE Fund Ever
Brookfield Asset Management, a Canadian alternative investment firm, raised $12 billion for its sixth flagship global private equity fund, Brookfield Capital Partners VI, making it the company’s largest private equity fund ever raised.
Brookfield made a $3.5 billion commitment to the fund, while limited partners include public and private pension plans, sovereign wealth funds, financial institutions, endowments and foundations, and family offices.
“Our global deal pipeline remains robust during this current period of market dislocation, which is creating significant large-scale opportunities that suit our operationally intensive investment approach,” said Anuj Ranjan, president of Brookfield’s Private Equity Group.
The fund represents a significant increase from its fifth fund, which raised $9 billion in 2019, with commitment from the general partners accounting for 33%.
The fund has already committed about $4 billion across six investments to date.
New York- and Toronto-listed Brookfield manages about $850 billion across renewables, infrastructure, real estate, private equity, credit and other alternative assets.
