Citizen Energy’s 2025 Drilling Fund Brings All Eight Wells Online
Citizen Energy Ventures, an owner and operator of oil and gas assets, said all eight wells tied to its Citizen Energy 2025 Drilling Fund are producing as the company continues its drilling program in Oklahoma’s Anadarko Basin. The 2025 fund is now substantially complete.
Launched in late October 2025, the fund participated in a drilling program that deployed more than $80 million in retail, institutional and management equity. The wells were completed at or below their targeted authorization for expenditure, the budget approved for drilling and completing each well.
“Operational execution is critical to our drilling programs, and the results speak to that discipline, including bringing production online quickly in a complicated macroeconomic environment,” said James Woods, founder and president of Citizen Energy Ventures.
The company’s follow-on vehicle, Citizen Energy 2026 Drilling Fund, launched earlier this year as a $20 million private placement with a greenshoe option of up to $30 million. Alongside institutional, prior-investor and management capital, the fund will participate in drilling and completing up to 12 planned wells in the basin’s Cherokee Formation.
The 2026 fund continues the strategy behind the 2025 program, targeting long-life oil and natural gas reserves. Before its launch, management raised more than $100 million from institutional and prior investors to supplement the drilling schedule, diversify across more wells and improve cost efficiency.
The fund is also structured to offer potential tax advantages to investors who elect to participate as general partners.
The Anadarko Basin covers nearly all of western Oklahoma and extends into three neighboring states. It spans about 50,000 square miles and reaches roughly seven miles deep.
