Bain Capital Invests in Construction Software Firm Kahua at $1B-Plus Valuation
Kahua has secured a minority growth investment from Bain Capital’s Tech Opportunities unit at a valuation above $1 billion, giving the construction-software company fresh capital to expand its artificial-intelligence capabilities and scale its platform for large, complex capital programs.
The transaction follows Kahua’s achievement of $100 million in annualized revenue and positions the Alpharetta, Georgia-based company to increase spending on product development, go-to-market efforts, customer success and talent, the companies said.
Kahua provides a cloud-based, AI-enabled platform that serves as a system of record for owners and delivery teams overseeing multiyear capital programs. Its software is used to connect planning, funding, procurement, construction and long-term asset-management workflows in a single governed environment.
The company serves more than 2,500 customers and supports more than $400 billion in capital programs across sectors including federal government and defense, transportation, health care, education, energy and digital infrastructure.
“Kahua has built the technology backbone for owners and delivery teams, connecting critical data across the full asset lifecycle—from funding and planning through construction and long-term operation,” Philip Meicler, a partner at Bain Capital Tech Opportunities, said.
Bain Capital manages about $225 billion across private equity, growth and venture, credit, capital solutions and real assets. Its Tech Opportunities strategy invests in growth-stage technology companies and will work with Kahua’s existing management team as the company expands across markets.
