Liberty Mutual Investments, Thayer Street Partner on Real Estate Services
Liberty Mutual Investments and Thayer Street Partners have formed a partnership to make joint investments in real estate and related service businesses, beginning with a new investment in community association manager SunHaven Management. The firms did not disclose the size of their investment or the terms of the broader partnership.
SunHaven buys and partners with independently owned community management firms across the United States. It aims to give founders a succession option while combining operations and expanding services for homeowners and association boards. Elliot Cohen, a former CEO of Sears Home Services and executive at ADT, founded SunHaven in 2025 and serves as its CEO. The investment follows an earlier joint deal in Grove Point Marinas, which acquires and operates U.S. marina properties.
“We’re pleased to partner with Thayer Street as we seek unique opportunities across the real estate industry where we can support management teams who are building scalable businesses,” said Christopher Finn, managing director and head of real estate at Liberty Mutual Investments.
Liberty Mutual Investments deploys more than $130 billion of capital globally on behalf of the insurer. Its real estate team invests across major property sectors as well as operating and services companies. Thayer Street focuses on lower-middle-market businesses with recurring revenue, using customized financing structures to support growth and acquisitions.
