Stockdale Launches CRE Credit Platform With $300M Deployment Goal
Stockdale Capital Partners has launched a real estate credit platform targeting approximately $300 million of investments over the next 12 months, expanding the firm’s strategy beyond equity ownership.
The platform will provide financing nationwide through senior bridge loans, mezzanine debt, note purchases and special-situation investments. Stockdale initially plans to target transactions ranging from $15 million to $75 million, where it sees fewer active capital providers.
The strategy will invest across commercial property types and geographies, including office, life science and hospitality assets, where financing liquidity remains constrained.
Stockdale appointed Alec Maki senior vice president of credit investments to help lead the platform from its New York office. He previously spent more than seven years with Fortress Investment Group’s real estate debt originations team, participating in more than $4 billion of transactions involving multifamily, office, retail, hospitality, industrial, land and condominium properties.
“By leveraging the firm’s vertically integrated operational expertise across asset classes, we will be able to underwrite transactions more efficiently, better assess risks with greater conviction, and structure flexible capital solutions for borrowers facing complex situations,” Maki said.
Maki will initially work with Chase Jensen, Stockdale’s managing director of acquisitions. The two previously worked together at Fortress, originating credit, equity and preferred-equity investments. Stockdale plans additional hires as the business expands.
Managing Partner Daniel Michaels said the dedicated platform formalizes Stockdale’s previous selective credit investing and will allow the firm to pursue debt opportunities with greater scale and consistency.
Stockdale reports approximately $2.8 billion in assets under management, about 100 employees and three decades of real estate investment experience.
