Summit Wealth Group Acquires Portland Planning Firm

Summit Wealth Group has acquired Financial Investment Team, a Portland, Oregon-based financial planning practice managing approximately $224 million for about 300 clients.

The transaction establishes Summit’s first Pacific Northwest branch and expands its network to 12 offices across six states, according to the company announcement. Financial terms were not disclosed.

All seven FIT employees, including three advisers, will join Summit, and the practice will operate under the Summit Wealth Group brand. Client relationships are expected to remain unchanged.

The acquisition also provides a succession solution for FIT founder Diana Harrison, who was approaching retirement but whose team could not independently finance an internal buyout. Summit structured a deal that bought out Harrison’s interest while giving FIT’s advisors equity in the combined firm. FP Transitions, a Portland-based advisory firm specializing in wealth-management succession and transactions, orchestrated the deal.

“Financial Investment Team represents exactly the kind of partnership Summit was built for,” CEO Randy Morris said. “It’s a planning-first firm with deep client relationships and a team that shares our belief that growth should never come at the expense of the client experience.”

FIT’s advisers will gain access to Summit’s investment platform, compliance and human resources support, marketing resources and centralized financial planning capabilities. Summit said the acquisition also strengthens its tax-preparation expertise.

The deal follows Summit’s February merger with Nashville-based Premier Private Wealth, which managed about $470 million. Summit reported roughly $2.3 billion in regulatory assets under management as of Jan. 1, before that transaction and the FIT acquisition.

Colorado Springs-based Summit became an independent registered investment adviser in 2025 after leaving Commonwealth Financial Network.
