At the recent ADISA conference in Las Vegas, leaders in commercial real estate finance didn’t mince words when asked to share their thoughts on current monetary policy and whether the U.S. economy is headed for a recession.
“It’s really a matter of the right hand doesn’t know what the left hand is doing, or the right hand is working against the left hand,” Gary Bechtel, CEO of Red Oak Capital Holdings, told Connect CRE. “When you have an administration’s that flooding the market with capital, which is causing inflation, and you have a Fed that’s trying to quash inflation by raising interest rates, they’re working against each other.”
