Bain Capital Closes $14B Flagship Private Equity Fund, Surpassing $10B Target

Bain Capital has completed fundraising for its latest flagship private equity vehicle, Bain Capital Fund XIV, with total commitments of approximately $14 billion, including $11.8 billion in external capital, exceeding its original $10 billion target. The remaining capital was committed by Bain Capital-related entities, which collectively serve as the fund’s largest investor.

Fund XIV, together with the firm’s recently closed Europe VI (2023) and Asia V (2023) private equity funds, represents more than $27 billion of Bain Capital’s $68 billion global private equity platform. Continuing a strategy executed since the firm’s founding in 1984, Fund XIV will invest across five core verticals: Consumer, Healthcare, Industrials, Services, and Technology.

The fund attracted backing from major U.S. institutional investors, including the New Jersey Division of Investment ($400 million across two tranches), the Virginia Retirement System ($225 million), and the New Mexico State Investment Council ($150 million).

“Our strategy has always been to focus on opportunities where Bain Capital can bring a true advantage — pairing sector specialists with cross-platform insights and the resources of our global team,” said David Humphrey, Partner and Co-Head of North America Private Equity.
