Vistria Amasses $3B for Fifth Mid-Market Fund

The Vistria Group raied $3 billion in total capital commitments at the final close of Vistria Fund V, its largest private equity fund to date.

Fund V’s predecessor raised $2.68 billion when it closed in 2021, and its previous flagship fund, Vistria Fund III, raised $1.1 billion. The middle market private investment firm’s fifth flagship fund will follow the same approach as its predecessors, focusing on US companies in healthcare, education, and financial services.

Notable institutional investors in the fund include Connecticut Retirement Plans and Trust Funds with a $175 million commitment, the New York State Common Retirement Fund contributing $125 million and the Illinois Municipal Retirement Fund investing $75 million.

With the closing of the fifth fund, Vistria’s assets under management have grown to about $16 billion, more than doubling in just over three years, during which time it added credit and real estate strategies. The Chicago-based firm now has investments in 39 portfolio companies.
