Corient Acquires $10.4B Geller Multifamily Office

Corient, a wealth advisor and subsidiary of Toronto-based CI Financial Corp., has acquired Geller & Company (Geller MFO), a NYC-based multi-family office with $10.4 billion in assets under management and advisement.

Geller MFO, founded in 1984 by Martin Geller, provides bespoke financial services to ultra-high-net-worth individuals and families through a platform that includes a personal CFO.

As part of the deal, the Geller MFO team and its clients will gain access to Corient’s technology platform, operational, regulatory and compliance infrastructure, investment capabilities, trust services, significant scale, and increased capital.

“We firmly believe that Corient and Geller coming together will set the standard of what it means to be a family office in the UHNW space, which will result in continued advancement in how we develop our talent and service our multigenerational clients,” said Kurt MacAlpine, partner and CEO of Corient.

Headquarted in Miami, Corient is a fee-only wealth management firm that offers a private partnership model.  Since its founding in 2020, the firm has grown to more than 240 partners and over 1,200 employees managing approximately $182 billion in assets on behalf of high-net-worth and ultra-high-net-worth individuals, families and businesses across the U.S.

Last month, CI Financial announced that Mubadala Capital, the $24 billion alternative asset management arm of Abu Dhabi’s Mubadala Investment Company, agreed to pay $8.66 billion (CAD$ 12.1 billion) in cash and debt to take the wealth manager private. The deal is expected to close in the second quarter of 2025.
