Tacora Capital Raises $269M for Sophomore Venture Debt Fund

Tacora Capital, a Peter Thiel-backed venture debt firm, has raised approximately $269 million for its second fund, according to a recent filing with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The filing indicates that 28 unnamed investors contributed to the round. The new fund follows Tacora’s first fund in 2022, which raised around $350 million, including a $250 million investment from Thiel, the PayPal and Founders Fund co-founder.

The firm looks to provide asset-backed debt to startups in the fintech space, across subsectors including insurance, peer-to-peer lending, retirement solutions, payments infrastructure, real estate tech, supply chain and logistics.

Founded in 2021, Tacora is based in Austin. Tacora’s founder and CEO, Keri Findley, was first introduced to Thiel through his VC firm, Thiel Capital, when she worked as a partner at hedge fund Third Point, according to Bloomberg. Findley ran the structured credit portfolio for Third Point, to which she was recruited to build from scratch.
