Boston Retirement Searching for Private Infrastructure Strategy
The Boston Retirement System is going forward with an infrastructure mandate, with the goal of allocating approximately $30 million to a closed-end private infrastructure strategy. The $7 billion pension system has recently initiated a fund of hedge fund search, which will conclude before the end of October.
The asset class is new to the fund, which has previously set aside more than $600 million for real estate.
The search, which is being conducted by consultant NEPC, is prioritizing firms that have raised at least two prior funds for the proposed strategy. However, this is also subject to the board’s discretion. Furthermore, it is anticipated that any proposed fund will raise a minimum of $200 million; however, smaller sums may be considered.
Responses are being collected through 3 pm EST on November 6, officials announced last week.
