Focus Merges $3.8B Gratus Capital into The Colony Group
Focus Financial Partners Inc., a New York-based RIA aggregator, announced that Gratus Capital, LLC, headquartered in Atlanta, GA, has agreed to join another Focus firm, The Colony Group, LLC. The financial details of the transaction, which is slated to close in the third quarter of 2024, were not revealed.
Gratus, which joined Focus as a partner firm in 2014, specializes in high-net-worth individuals and families, offering services ranging from investment management and financial planning to business owner strategies. Upon conclusion of this deal, Gratus is estimated to add about $3.8 billion in regulatory assets to Colony’s assets.
“Joining Colony is a natural step in continuing to offer and expand the expertise, guidance, and hands-on advice that our clients rely on to accomplish their life’s goals,” said Hank McLarty, founder and CEO of Gratus.
Colony has previously agreed to acquire several other Focus partner businesses this year, including $10.4 billion Boston-based GW & Wade in March, Tennessee-based InterOcean Capital Group in April, and national investment advisor Buckingham Strategic Wealth in May.
