Golub Hires Jennifer Potenta to Lead New Insurance Solutions Unit

Golub Capital, a direct lender and private credit asset manager, launched its insurance solutions team, with former senior managing director at MetLife Investment Management, Jennifer Potenta, to lead the new effort as managing director, head of insurance solutions.

Potenta has over 20 years of industry experience. As well as a senior managing director, she was the global head of private fixed income and alternatives at MetLife, where she specialized in managing the assets of insurance companies for a more than $120 billion portfolio of private debt and equity investments.

According to Golub, the launch of the team is another “key milestone” in its multi-year plan to expand and evolve the investor partners group.

In 2023, Golub executed its inaugural insurance capital solutions transaction as one of the lead investors in Ruby Reinsurance Company, a newly formed reinsurance sidecar vehicle sponsored by Reinsurance Group of America.

“Insurance Solutions will be dedicated to cementing our reputation with insurance companies as both a best-in-class asset manager partner and a provider of strategic capital,” said Craig Benton, senior managing director, head of the Investor Partners Group at Golub Capital, which has $65 billion in asset under management.

Golub Capital boasts over 17 years of experience providing investment solutions for insurance company clients and over 120 insurance clients across debt and equity.

At MetLife, Brian Funk will take on Potenta’s role following a reorganization that has him leading MetLife’s private capital team. He reports to Jude Driscoll, who last week was named global head of fixed income and private capital.
