Focus-Backed Cornerstone Adds Sutton Wealth Advisors 

Focus Financial Partners, a partnership of independent, fiduciary wealth management firms, has facilitated a merger between Sutton Wealth Advisors, Inc. and Focus’ partner firm Cornerstone Wealth Group, LLC.  

Financial terms of the deal, which is expected to close in the first quarter of 2024, were not disclosed. 

Tampa, FL-based Sutton Wealth is a wealth management firm founded in 2007 by Ed Sutton. The firm focuses on financial and estate planning predominantly on Florida based high net worth individuals and families. 

“I had a natural rapport with the Cornerstone team from our first conversation as they felt like a larger, more scaled version of the firm we built,” said Sutton. 

“We are excited to welcome Ed and the Sutton Wealth team to Cornerstone,” added Craig Rubrecht, CEO of North Carolina-based Cornerstone. “Tampa is a strategic market for us to enter as we see similarities between Tampa and the existing markets in which we operate.” 

Focus often owns a majority interest in its partner RIAs.
