DSD Renewables Receives $250M Backing from Cox Enterprises
DSD Renewables, a solar developer backed by Blackrock, has obtained a $250 million investment from Cox Enterprises, Inc. to support its growing renewable energy project portfolio.
The investment is Atlanta, GA-based Cox’s largest in the renewable energy sector to date as it expands its holdings in clean energy technology.
DSD, based in Schenectady, NY, has raised approximately $2 billion in project funding since 2019. It has built over 600MW of solar and energy storage projects across the United States.
BlackRock’s Climate Infrastructure fund will remain the majority owner of DSD Renewables. In 2019, the fund invested $250 million in DSD.
“Our growth, initially fueled by BlackRock’s faith in us, now enters a new chapter with Cox that will advance our position as a cleantech leader and scale our business,” said Erik Schiemann, CEO at DSD.
DSD primarily serves commercial and industrial clients, as well as local governments.
