Bain Capital, DNE Form $250M Industrial Property JV
Chinese infrastructure developer DNE Group and global investment firm Bain Capital have established a $250 million manufacturing park joint venture for “new economy infrastructure”
According to DNE, the JV will focus on developing and operating modern manufacturing parks in China’s major economic centers. The Shanghai-based company added that its seed assets are distributed throughout the Yangtze River Delta region, the country’s primary manufacturing hub.
The projects are anticipated to result in “high-quality, modern manufacturing infrastructure,” according to DNE. The company will manage the project, while Bain Capital will be the strategic investor.
“Bain Capital has a deliberate strategy of investing into the underlying infrastructure that supports economic growth,” said Kei Chua, a partner at the firm.
In recent years, Bain Capital, which manages approximately $180 billion in assets, has promoted its investment in China’s new economy sector. The Boston-based firm invested $300 million in DNE subsidiary D&J China in 2019 to aid in the industrial park developer’s strategic development and portfolio expansion.
In 2021, DNE was established through the merger of D&J and New Ease China. It manages $16 billion in assets and operates over 14 million square meters of space, including logistics and cold chains, a modern manufacturing park, a life sciences park, and an urban redevelopment area.
